Final TANGO Toolbox is released as Open Source
The Heterogeneity Alliance is an initiative to join efforts of organizations interested in the creation of optimized applications for heterogeneous hardware. TANGO is one of the founders members and currently coordinating all the Alliance activities.
Simplifying the way developers approach the development of next-generation applications
our tools will help you control and abstract underlying heterogeneous hardware architectures, configurations and software systems including heterogeneous clusters, chips and programmable logic devices while providing tools to optimize various dimensions of software design and operations (energy efficiency, performance, data movement and location, cost, time-criticality, security, dependability on target architectures)
During the last decade the software and computing industry has lived a revolutionary change that deeply impacts on how developers embark on delivering software. The mainstream computing landscape has shifted from single–processor machines, to a multi-core, multi-type machines. This “multi-everything” trend has changed all types of computers, devices (phones, tablets, IoT devices and sensors) plus the option of also using remote cloud infrastructures, also providing heterogeneity.
The HiPEAC conference is the premier European forum for experts in computer architecture, programming models, compilers and operating systems for embedded and general-purpose systems.
The current computing ecosystem is becoming more and more heterogeneous. On the one hand, trends in computer architectures focuses on providing different computing devices (CPUs, GPUs and FPGAs) and memories in a single chip or computing node, with the aim of providing better computing devices for the different types of algorithms and applications.
The IEEE Cluster Conference serves as a major international forum for presenting and sharing recent accomplishments and technological developments in the field of cluster computing as well as the use of cluster systems for scientific and commercial applications. Cluster 2016 involves participants (researchers, developers, and users) from academia, industry, laboratories, and commerce, coming together to discuss recent advances and trends in, but not limited to:
International Workshop on Algorithms, Models and Tools for Parallel Computing on Heterogeneous Platforms
The International Workshop on Algorithms, Models and Tools for Parallel Computing on Heterogeneous Platforms (HeteroPar'2016) will be held, in its fourteenth edition in Porto, Portugal. For the sixth time, this workshop is organized in conjunction with the Euro-Par 2016 annual series of international conferences dedicated to the promotion and advancement of all aspects of parallel computing.
We plan to present the project TANGO and its expected results with regard the Programming Model, as regards TANGO's Layer 1 – IDE & Programming Model.
PROHA 2016 Proceedings of the First Workshop on Program Transformation for Programmability in Heterogeneous Architectures.
We are proud to announce that we presented a paper for the workshop PROHA’2016:
"Title: TANGO: Transparent heterogeneous hardware Architecture deployment for eNergy Gain in Operation"

The 2016 IEEE International Symposium on Performance Analysis of Systems and Software is sponsored by the IEEE Computer Society's Technical Committee on Internet, Technical Committee on Computer Architecture, and Technical Committee on Microprogramming and Microarchitecture.
ISC High Performance (ISC 2016) attracted 3,092 attendees from 53 countries, as well as 146 companies and research organizations showcasing their technologies and services at the ISC exhibition.
We are proud to announce and share with you that we have published an article in CORDIS WIRE, the European Commission's primary public repository and portal to disseminate information on all EU-funded research projects and their results in the broadest sense. We have published a piece about TANGO, the European initiative seeks to “Simplify and Optimize Heterogeneity” of new computing hardware and IT architectures for the upcoming years.

“In the twilight of Moore’s Law, the transitions to multicore processors, GPU computing, and HaaS cloud computing are not separate trends, but aspects of a single trend – mainstream computers from desktops to ‘smartphones’ are being permanently transformed into heterogeneous supercomputer clusters. Henceforth, a single compute-intensive application will need to harness different kinds of cores, in immense numbers, to get its job done.
The free lunch is over. Now welcome to the hardware jungle.”
