From e-Passport to Trusted Access: Self-Sovereign Identity in TANGO

In this technical deep-dive, Ross Little explores the implementation of self-sovereign identity within TANGO. The presentation highlights the development of two types of digital wallets – standard and zero-knowledge proof (ZKP) versions – built on the walt.id framework and both integrated into mobile and web interfaces. These wallets support the issuance and presentation of verifiable credentials in compliance with ETSI and OpenID standards.
Key features include the use of ZKP credentials (LDP-VCs), DID:KEY, DID:WEB as well as DID:JWK support, and integration with the FIWARE Dataspace Connector. Ross also presents innovative flows for issuing e-passport-based credentials and employee credentials, using NFC and biometric verification. The talk concludes with demonstrations of live onboarding via mobile apps, showing how users can securely receive and use credentials for accessing organizational services.
